Creator Stories: Featuring Tanner Vonnahme
An obsession with movies, music, and his mom’s camcorder has become a dream job for director and cinematographer Tanner Vonnahme.
While he’s been a curious creator his whole life, it wasn’t until his internship with HuskerVision at Nebraska that he saw this as a potential career. Growing up in Nebraska, sports were practically a religion for Tanner, especially football. So, the opportunity to join HuskerVision was a no-brainer for him. He was able to gain real-life experience in video work. He still has lots of love for the HuskerVision team and his Husker roots. Including his time there, Tanner has been in the industry for a decade.
Tanner has been fortunate enough to have two “I made it” moments as a creator. One for two of his greatest passions: music & sports. As a self-described “music psycho,” Tanner had always wanted to go to Coachella. He just never thought his first time going would be for work. Getting paid to shoot and meet artists would be a dream come true for anyone. His big moment in sports came when he worked on a Super Bowl commercial for the NFL. He met & worked with NFL legends like Brett Favre, Jerry Rice, Barry Sanders, Deion Sanders, Ed Reed, and Larry Fitzgerald.
Tanner is currently working on a creative agency called Ten X Talent with his business partner. He recently put together a reel for the company that pushed his creativity to the limits. Using a combination of ideas he’s been saving on his phone for over a year and a half, and he figured out a way to cohesively combine everything. With over a month of editing, including an attention to detail of sound design he’s never done before, this reel has become a showcase of Tanner and his company’s skill. Tanner’s a firm believer that if you don’t lose sight of the overall mission, you can make anything happen, no matter how long it takes.
Tanner has been able to turn a hobby into a career at the highest level. What’s next for him? Hopefully, a collab with his favorite artist, Drake (did you know Tanner’s in the top .5% of Drake listeners?).
